Lisa Silva Willoughby

Lisa Silva Willoughby, hails from Goiânia, Brazil, and has dedicated her life to integrating capoeira into Marin County culture through ABADÁ-Capoeira Marin, which she established in 2014. Armed with a degree in Public Relations from the State University of São Paulo, Lisa ventured into marketing in both Brazil and California before settling in San Francisco with her husband and family. Inspired by the transformative impact of capoeira on her students, Lisa founded ABADA-Capoeira Marin under the guidance of Mestra Márcia Cigarra in 2014, and since then, has been teaching the art to Marinites of all ages. Committed to community outreach, she spearheaded the certification of ABADA-Capoeira Marin as a non-profit corporation in 2019, aiming to embed capoeira into the fabric of Marin County culture. Lisa's unwavering dedication to her students and her remarkable achievements in capoeira competitions, including winning international titles in 2019 and 2023, underscore her commitment to promoting capoeira worldwide.
